The comments section on this site is a space for you to chat with other members of the Jommunity and share your knowledge, thoughts, and experiences. To help keep the dialogue healthy and engaging, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Respect each other.
All Jomrades are expected to be civil and respectful in their interactions. Like any online community, we're a group of people with a range of experiences and beliefs, many of which may differ from each other's. Consider this a gift—interesting and challenging perspectives can open doors you didn't even know existed.
Speak constructively.
With each comment you make, you add to our collective Jommunity dialogue. If you have knowledge that shines a new light on the piece, or if you have feedback about the subject matter, it's best shared in a way that moves the conversation forward, with kindness and candor, and invite others to follow your example. Your fellow Jomrades may read your words and use them to shape their ideas and feelings about a topic, event, or person; employ that influence wisely!
Stay on topic.
Focus on discussing or responding to the ideas presented by the piece. Feel free to link to trustworthy articles, reports, and sources to support your thoughts.
Only share links to your own content or writing if it directly contributes to the conversation. Spam comments will be deleted, and their authors may be banned from leaving further comments, at Jom's discretion.
If someone else replies to a comment you've made, you'll be notified by email. You can choose to switch these emails off in your Email preferences.
Report inappropriate comments.
If you see someone being rude, hateful, divisive, or overly combative in the comments section, click the three dots next to the relevant comment, and then click Report comment.
All reported comments will be flagged for moderation by the Jom team. We do not tolerate abusive behaviour, and take these reports seriously. Comments found to be in violation of these guidelines will be deleted and their authors may be banned from leaving further comments, at Jom's discretion.
