Toffa Abdul Wahed is a librarian who enjoys reading and listening to stories about food, especially those about the dishes that people make and eat at home as daily fare or for special occasions. She also enjoys thumbing through old cookbooks from the early to mid-20th century that were written and published in Jawi Malay, and is interested in investigating how political ideologies were transmitted through recipes and dishes. She was previously a research assistant (2018–20) for a project titled “Culinary Biographies: Charting Singapore’s History Through Cooking and Consumption”, funded by the National Heritage Board’s Heritage Research Grant.
